MSI has just launched the Z97 Gaming 9 AC, a full-size ATX motherboard. Its marquee features is its Xtreme Audio DAC onboard audio system. At the heart of this system is the C-Media CM6631A HD audio processor, which is supported by a slew of other high-end audio components like Wolfson WM8741 DAC and Texas Instruments TPA6120A2 amplifier. Providing EMI shielding for the Xtreme Audio DAC is a specially designed EMI sheath called the Dragon Armor.
The Dragon Armor also supposedly provides protection against interface for its Audio Boost 2 audio system as well. Speaking of protection, the rear I/O panel comes with its own protective cover, which together with the Dragon Army, provides a truly unique look to the board.
The Z97 Gaming AC boasts of the Military Class IV components that ensure stable operation of the system, even under extreme gaming conditions. In terms of storage options, the board features both M.2 and SATA Express connectors. According to local distributor, Corbell Technology, the board is available now, in limited quantities, for S$449. Fret not if it’s sold out by the time you read this, as the next shipment is expected in mid-June.
