Motorola to Announce "X" Phone at Google I/O 2013?

How will the Motorola X-Phone look like? Seen here is the Motorola Razr Maxx.

Earlier in December, The Wall Street Journal reported that Google and Motorola are working on a "X" phone and a "X" tablet for release later this year. It seems that the "X" phone is ready for showtime in a few months' time.

According to Droid Life, one of its forum members who has been a source of information on Motorola posted details on the upcoming device. Although Motorola is said to announce the phone at Google I/O 2013 in May, it will not be branded as a Nexus device. The tentative release date is 8 July and all four U.S carriers will sell the "X" phone. The "X" phone will be sold at similar price points as the Nexus 4 on Google Play Store.

Droidforums claims to have exclusive information on the specs of the "X" phone. Its sources indicate that the device will sport a 5-inch edge-to-edge display and is the first device to ship with Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie. The device will be announced alongside the new Android version at Google I/O 2013, but will not be a Nexus device. Motorola is alleged to be working on developing the user interface to compliment and enhance the Android experience.

Ever since Google acquired Motorola Mobility in May 2012, there have been rumors and speculation on a Motorola Nexus device. HTC, LG and Samsung have manufactured at least one Nexus device in the past four years, and it may be Motorola's turn this year.
