Citing an unnamed Apple Store source, 9to5Mac reports that preparations are being currently made for a huge Apple Store event which will take place on March 16th, Friday, merely nine days after the official launch of the iPad HD (or otherwise known as the iPad 3). This points to an indication that the next-generation iPad tablet will go on sale in initial markets on the day itself. If this is to be true, we can expect to see it in Singapore by mid-April or earlier.

9to5Mac - We’ve been told by an Apple Store source who has been reliable in the past that preparations are being made for a big Apple Store event which will culminate on Friday, March 16th. Naturally, this points to an iPad 3 launch on the Friday just nine days after tomorrow’s announcement. We’ve previously noted that an Apple Store in London at the world famous Harrod’s will open on that date as well as a new Store in Houston, Texas.

The iPad HD was formerly alleged to look almost identical to the iPad 2 with a thinner profile due to a low-powered Retina display and a thinner battery pack; later reports mentioned that it might feature more tapered edges compared to its predecessor. Otherwise, the next-gen Apple tablet is rumored to come with high-end specs and so far, the list includes:

Building on earlier allegations that upcoming 2012 iPad lineup is said to include more than one model, a new report now suggests that the upcoming Apple "iPad mini" will feature a 7.1-inch display.

BGR - A 7.1-inch display would pit Apple’s tiny tablet against the likes of Amazon’s Kindle Fire and Barnes & Noble’s Nook Tablet, and it would also be exactly the size Apple co-founder Steve Jobs said Apple would never touch.

This is of course, still pure speculation until the official details have been released. However, BGR reports that this mini version is expected to launch some time in the second half of the year, just slightly ahead of Apple’s next-generation iPhone, which is alleged to launch this fall.
