Mobile AppHack Hackathon to be Held in Singapore on 23 November

AngelHack, one of the world's biggest organizers of hackathons, will be bringing AppHack to Singapore on 23 and 24 November (this weekend). The 36-hour hackathon that focuses only mobile apps will be held at Microsoft Singapore headquarters, and will see teams comprising about 350 designers, developers and entrepreneurs try to build a winning app in 36 hours. The top teams that built the best apps during this hackathon will be able to win a chance to get into the AngelHack Global Hackcelerator program, as well as more than $100,000 worth of prizes.

The team that wins the top prize, will receive a 10-week local mentorship program with tech veterans based in Singapore, before being inducted into the Hackcelerator program. The program will give winning teams an opportunity to get into Silicon Valley to take part in a series of events including pitch training, legal assistance, an investor demo day, community events and conferences across 2 weeks -- in other words, receive training on how to turn their hacks into market-ready products, while creating a successful business around it. Other prizes include Nokia Lumia 920 phones, and cash from sponsors.

The AppHack Singapore 2013 will have a judging panel comprising established tech leaders from Silicon Valley, as well as those based in Singapore. The most notable of these judges will be Ben Parr, the former Editor-At-Large of Mashable. Others include David Lim, the current Director of audience marketing in the developer and platform evangelism team of Microsoft Asia Pacific HQ. Key sponsors for the event include Microsoft BizSpark, Singapore Sports Council and Singtel.
