M1 has started the ball rolling with its announcement about its bundled service plans with the iPad, a full 3 days before its official launch. StarHub and SingTel have both declined to make comments on their upcoming price plans.

The new iPad was announced on the 9th of March and will be rolled out in U.S, Canada, U.K, France, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia on the 16th of March.

According to M1, the iPad will be offered with a 21Mbps data plan, which amounts to a S$40 per month subscription. The plan will be bundled with 10GB of local data, and capped at S$30 for excess data. This will make up for the LTE-less experience: previously, both M1 and SingTel have mentioned that it is currently impossible to link the iPad up to the LTE networks in Singapore due to the disparity in frequency bands.

M1 - “We are excited to offer the amazing new iPad on our advanced high speed mobile network,” said P. Subramaniam, M1’s Chief Marketing Officer. “This, together with our affordable data plans mean M1's customers will be able to take full advantage of the power of the new iPad.”

However, do note that there is a caveat that comes with this data plan. M1 has stated that the actual bandwidth and speed experienced depend on several factors including device or equipment used, radio conditions, network traffic and destination server. This is also reflected on M1's mobile broadband plans, which reports a typical speed range of 0.7 to 6.7Mbps for its theoretical 21Mbps speeds.

If you're an existing M1 user or are looking to sign up with M1, the new iPad will be available at the M1 Paragon flagship store on 16 March at 12:01am. Not looking forward to the queue? Customers may also obtain the new iPad from all other M1 shops at usual operating hours.
