*Update as of 16/1/2013: An LG company official refutes claims that the company has stopped production of the Nexus 4. In addition, the LG official states that rumors of a new Nexus device are false.

Can't get your hands on the LG Nexus 4? Well, it may be a blessing in disguise as International Business Times (IBT) reports that LG is focusing on the development of new smartphones, which include the Nexus 4's successor and other premium smartphones.

During its press conference at CES 2013, LG Electronics SVP James Fisher revealed that the LG Nexus 4 is just "the first of many" Nexus products it is working on, and consumers can expect to see its next generation smartphones at MWC 2013 next month.

IBT - Fisher said, "Through our collaboration with Google, we launched the LG Nexus 4 smartphone. This is the first of many devices to come from our growing partnership with this very selective company."

According to IBT, recent rumors indicate that the successor of the Nexus 4 will be equipped with a faster 2.0GHz quad-core processor and Key Lime Pie, Android's upcoming Android version. For its next generation smartphones, Fisher stated that "more tier-one premium handsets in various screen sizes" will be introduced at MWC 2013 and throughout the rest of the year.

Google announced the dates for its annual I/O developers conference a month ago, which will take place from 15th to 17th May in San Francisco. Its I/O conference typically sees the debut of the latest Android version and its flagship bearers. Will LG still be the manufacturer for the next generation Nexus devices which will be announced at Google I/O 2013?
