LG’s metal-clad midrange smartphone comes to Singapore

Earlier in September, LG teased us with the “slim metal” LG Class midrange smartphone that was originally only in Korea. Today, the Korean electronics company informs us that the smartphone will be coming to Singapore, as soon as this weekend.

As mentioned before, the LG Class will come clad in a real metal chassis. The phone itself is 7.4mm thin, and it will also come with a 2.5D Arc Glass - similar to the Arc Screen found on Oppo models, like the R7s we recently saw.

The 5.0-inch device comes with a HD resolution display (1280 x 720 pixels), giving it a pixel density of ~294 ppi. It uses in-cell touch technology, reducing eliminating layers between the LCD and the glass surface for a more responsive touch and clearer images. For reference, Samsung’s Super AMOLED is a also a type of in-cell technology. The usual Gesture Shot feature – available since the LG G3 debuted – can detect movements from 1.5m away, allowing the user to activate the shot even with a selfie stick.

The LG Class comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 8-megapixel front camera, and it comes with the Gesture Interval Shot feature. Gesture Interval Shot takes four selfies in quick succession, and it’s triggered by signaling the phone by using a closed fist, opening it twice, and closing fist at the end.

It runs on Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) OS, powered using a 1.2Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor. It has up to 1.5GB RAM, 16GB internal memory for storage, and that is expandable by another 128GB using an external MicroSD card. Connectivity features supported include 3G and 4G networks, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and A-GPS (Glonass). It uses a USB 2.0 HS (maximum transfer speed of 480Mbps), and that USB port also provides charging for its 2,050mAh embedded battery.

The LG Class will retail at S$398, and it can be found at authorized LG retailers and telco outlets beginning 28 November 2015, with a promotional gift bundle (worth S$70) for every purchase while stocks last. The bundle will include a transparent jelly case, and a 5,200mAh power bank. Colors available are Gold, Silver, and Blue-Black. Yes, Blue-Black.

SITEX Special

The smartphone will also make an early debut at SITEX on 26 November 2015, and buying it at the IT fair will net you the promotion bundle, plus an additional 64GB SD card (worth S$78).
