Lenovo unveils the new VIBE Shot and A7000 smartphones and a portable Pocket Projector at MWC2015

Recognizing how connectivity and mobility are driving consumers to capturing moments on their smartphones, Lenovo has come up with three new products for their consumer portfolio. The Vibe Shot is what Lenovo calls a “2-in-1 camera smartphone”, while the A7000 is a large-screen smartphone with a 5.5” display and support for Dolby Atmos, and the Pocket Projector as it name implies is a portable projector you can use to share what’s on your in a much larger format.

Lenovo VIBE Shot

The VIBE Shot has a gorgeous front display and a full-frame sensor for its camera.

Headlining the features of the VIBE Shot is 16 Megapixel rear camera that features a six-piece modular lens, and a full-frame 16:9 sensor that’s said to be optimized for low-light.

A tri-color flash helps to ensure your images are optimally exposed based on the ambient lighting conditions, and the inclusion of infrared autofocus gives you autofocusing speeds twice as fast as normal autofocus. You can also toggle between Smart presets and advanced Pro settings with the flick of a switch, and there’s even a physical shutter button so you don’t have to fumble with hitting the right point on the screen.

As a smartphone, the VIBE Shot boasts a 5” Full HD display with 32GB storage and a microSD slot so you can easily add storage later. It runs Android 5.0 Lollipop, and has a speedy Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, dual SIM card slots, plus your usual Wi-Fi and LTE capabilities.

The VIBE Shot will be available in red, white or grey from June 2015 in countries where Lenovo smartphones are sold, from US$349 onwards.

Lenovo A7000

The Lenovo A7000 has a gorgeous 5.5" HD display.

Love watching movies on your phone? Then you’ll probably love the A7000. With a 5.5” HD display that offers ultra-wide viewing angles and Dolby Atmos technology. This makes it the world’s first smartphone to support the Atmos format, and Lenovo says you’ll hear the difference through your headphones alone – no additional equipment necessary.

Voices and sound effects will have a broader range from highs to lows, while sounds will seem to come from all directions – even overhead! The technology will also make playback volume more consistent across all types of content, so you won’t find yourself adjusting the volume each time you change from watching a movie to listening to music.

The A7000 runs Android 5.0 on a MediaTek True8Core processor with 4G LTE, allowing it to handle voice and data quickly. Like the VIBE Shot above, it has dual SIM card slots, as well as dual cameras. At just 7.9mm thin and 140g light, the A7000 is highly portable, and will fit any bag or pocket.

The Lenovo A7000 smartphone will be available in March in countries where Lenovo smartphones are sold, starting at US$169.

Lenovo Pocket Projector

Get a 110' display wherever you go with the Lenovo Pocket Projector.

As its name suggests, the Lenovo Pocket Projector snaps on to any compatible device (the Pocket Projector works with Miracast-enabled Android devices v4.3 and above and DLNA-enabled Android, Windows 8.1 and iOS devices.), and supersizes the display by projecting it on a wall or flat surface to give you a display that’s up to 110” wide (854x480).

The projector features a 50-lumens high contrast optical engine, and displays colorful, vivid images that are automatically corrected for distortion. The projector can be rotated up to 90 degrees for the best possible viewing angle, and even features dual speakers for added sound.

You can even project content wirelessly via DLNA or Miracast; the projector has more than two hours of battery life this way (2.5 hours to be exact), ensuring that you can easily finish a full length movie on a single charge. Most multimedia file formats are supported, and there’s even the option of inserting up to a 32GB microSD for external storage. The best thing? The Pocket Projector measures just 104mm x 25mm x 100mm, and weighs just 170g, making it truly pocketable.

The Lenovo Pocket Projector will be available worldwide starting in May. Pricing begins at US$249.
