Leaked schematics reveal bigger screens for the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus
The anonymous case maker which sent GSMArena 3D renders of the Galaxy S8 has returned with more information on Samsung's upcoming flagship phones. Based on the specific measurements provided, GSMArena states that the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus will have bigger displays than their predecessors.
The Galaxy S8 measures 140.14 x 72.2 x 7.3mm while the Galaxy S8 Plus comes in at 152.38 x 78.51 x 7.94mm. In comparison, the Galaxy S7 measures 142.4 x 69.6 x 7.9mm and the Galaxy S7 edge measures 150.9 x 72.6 x 7.7mm.
The differences in height and width can be attributed to the bigger display sizes which are coming on the new phones. The Galaxy S8 Plus is likely to sport a 6.3-inch display and the Galaxy S8 will have a 5.7-inch display although the actual sizes could be larger due to the curved edges.
Other observations include slimmer bezels at the top and bottom, a slightly protruding rear camera, the possibility of a smaller battery capacity in both phones, and a microUSB 2.0 port.
Samsung could launch the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus at Mobile World Congress 2017 or later in March with retail availability scheduled for 18 April.
