July 15 is Prime Day

July 15 is Prime Day

Prime Day starts at midnight (in the US) on July 15. Thankfully, it's 3 p.m. for us.

If you thought your wallet would be safe in the middle of the year, Amazon has bad news for you. It's kicking off its first Prime Day shopping event next Wednesday, on the 15th of July 2015. The one day event will kick off at 0000 hrs PDT, which means that it'll be 1500hrs (3 p.m.) for us here.

Amazon promises massive discounts and deals on that day, with new deals appearing online as often as every ten minutes. On top of that, Amazon will also have five main deals that will last the whole day. It's not at all different from how Amazon held its Black Friday event last year, so our Black Friday 2014 FAQ should still apply.

There's a small caveat though. Only Prime members are eligible for the sale. If you're not a Prime member, you can either pay US$99 for a year's subscription to the service, or try the free trial, which lasts a month. The bad news is that if you're a returning Amazon customer and you've tried the Prime trial, your only option to take part in the sale is if you sign up for a prime subscription, as the trial won't work if you've tried it before.
