While the world awaits the arrival of Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) in October or November, Google is said to be naming the next Android operating system (OS) as Jelly Bean.

According to ThisIsMyNext, information from a reliable source revealed that the next Android OS after Ice Cream Sandwich is named Jelly Bean. A second reputable source remarked that Google has not made its decision on the codename yet but Jelly Bean is one of the top considerations.

While the first source mentioned that some of the "game-changing features" scheduled for ICS are being pushed back to Jelly Bean, the second source stated that ICS would feature significant architectural, functional and design changes.

The alleged leaked screenshots of ICS a month ago revealed little details on the extent of the overhaul of the Android OS and we felt a little disappointed. However, it seems that Google has some big surprises prepared for us when it unveils ICS.
