After a month's delay, Apple has finally released iTunes 11. When it began life, iTunes was just a music player. Soon, it grew to become a hub of sorts for your movies, podcasts, books and later became the means for updating, backing up and maintaining your iOS devices. It became one of the most important apps in the Mac ecosystem, but it also became one of the worst designed. It felt slow, it became a resource hog and wasn't particularly easy to use.
According to Apple, iTunes 11 will change all that. On first impressions, it is clear that iTunes has undergone a dramatic UI update. The entire look and feel is different and will take some getting used to. On the performance front, iTunes 11 feels much more fluid and responsive. The App Store is no longer the sloth it once was.
Based on our initial impressions, things are looking up for iTunes. And we definitely recommend users to update as soon as they can.
iTunes 11 is available for download from Apple here.
