The release of Google Maps not only brings relief to millions of iOS 6 users worldwide, it also helped Apple grow its iOS 6 mobile platform by 29%.

According to data collected by ad management platform MoPub, there was a noticeable 29% increase in unique iOS 6 users in the five days after Google released Maps for the platform.

MoPub CEO Jim Payne - "“We observed since the launch of Google Maps for iOS 6 a 30 percent increase in unique iOS 6 users, and we think it’s related to Google Maps. It verifies that hypothesis that people were actually holding back to upgrade until Google Maps was available.”

It seems that the release of Maps is a win-win situation for both Apple and Google. For Apple, its iOS 6 users finally have Google Maps back in their lives. For Google, it just goes to show that its Maps is simply better than Apple's own mapping technology (for now).
