Intel Releases DC S3500 SSDs Built for the Cloud & Enterprise Applications
Intel is launching a new series of SSDs for data centers and cloud computing to enhance hosting of cloud applications. Named the DC S3500 Series, it is designed for read-intensive applications including web hosting, cloud computing, and data center virtualization.
Offering two SSDs with capacities from 80GB to 800GB, Intel says that the SSDs deliver improved TCO (total cost of ownership) over traditional hard disks primarily due to reduced power consumption and smaller space requirements. The new DC S3500 SSDs incorporate Intel's latest 3rd generation SSD controller, 20nm Intel NAND Flash Memory technology with SATA 6Gbps interface to hit sequential read and write speeds of up to 500MBps and 450MBps respectively.
