There are alleged plans by Intel to refresh its current Intel Core Haswell processors with a slew of new SKUs in May. In addition, the chip maker will also ship the new Z97 and H97 chipsets to board manufacturers in preparation for the next generation Broadwell processors.
According to DigiTimes, Intel will release 20 new processors for its “Haswell Refresh” platform, covering the Intel Core, Pentium and Celeron series. The SKUs include the Core i7-4790, Core i5-4690, Core i5-4590, Core i3-4360, Pentium G3450 and Celeron G1840. There are also low-power chips that consist of the Core i7-4790S, Core i5-4590S and Core i3-4150T.
As for the unlocked K-series Haswell Refresh products like the Core i7-4790K and Core i5-4690K, our past experience tells us that the pair would most likely be launched at Computex 2014. As for the next generation, 14nm-based Broadwell processors, they are expected to be launched at the end of the year.
