It seems that Samsung is milking the Galaxy S branding for all it's worth as photos and a video of a Galaxy S4 variant surfaced on the Internet.
According to GSMArena, the device shown in the photos and video is the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active. Touted as a rugged variant with dust and water resistance, the Galaxy S4 Active is alleged to come with an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-inch, 1080p display. The chassis of the Galaxy S4 Active is said to be metallic with bolts on its back.
There are conflicting reports on the type of processor used in the Galaxy S4 Active. It was reported earlier that the Galaxy S4 Active is running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core 1.9GHz processor, however the video description posted on YouTube states that the device has a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus dual-core processor.
It's possible that Samsung is preparing models with different processors for different regions, or it is using the previous generation of processors to lower the overall costs since more premium materials are used to construct the device. The Galaxy S4 Active is rumored to be launched in mid July alongside the 4.3-inch Galaxy S4 Mini.
