#ICYMI Friday: Yahoo accounts hacked, lots of cameras, should you Apple Watch 2

Photokina, the big camera trade show, happened earlier this week, which explains why camera news dominated. But the biggest thing you should know about this week is Yahoo, especially if you have a Yahoo account.

PSA: If you have a Yahoo account, change your password now

Yahoo has just confirmed that information from 500 million accounts were stolen in late 2014 by what it calls “a state-sponsored actor,” which either means a professional stage, film or television dramatic artist paid by the government, or a rogue nation with a beef against the United States.

When Yahoo says “information,” it doesn’t just mean passwords. Names, email addresses, telephone numbers, dates of birth, etc. have all have been stolen and are now being sold in the wild.

TL;DR: If you have a Yahoo account, go change your password now. And if you’ve used your Yahoo email and reused that same password for other accounts (e.g. Facebook, Tumblr) you should definitely change those passwords too.

Cameras, cameras, and more cameras

The biggest news from Photokina 2016 is Fujifilm’s new medium format mirrorless camera, the GFX, which looks like a DSLR, shoots with a 43.8 x 32.9mm CMOS sensor, and has a resolution of 51.4MP. We get our hands on a prototype GFX for a spin.

Sony’s new A99 II full-frame camera was a big surprise, mainly because it’s the first camera in four years for the A-mount series. The camera is fast, it can shoot an astonishing twelve 42MP frames per second.

After being announced in January at CES 2016, Nikon’s first action camera, the KeyMission 360 finally gets a launch date. Two new action cameras were also unveiled.

Both Panasonic and Olympus also had news to add. Panasonic revealed three new Lumix cameras, and Olympus announced the ‘development’ of their next flagship E-M1 Mark II (seriously, what’s up with announcing ‘developments’ instead of announcing the actual product?). Olympus also has three new lenses, including a (very) fast 25mm f/1.2.

Xiaomi-backed Chinese company Xiaoyi threw a curveball with a new Micro Four Thirds camera, the M1, which costs a low, low, 2,199 yuan (approx. S$450) with a 12-40mm kit lens.

Should you Apple Watch Series 2 and/or iPhone 7?

Should you buy or upgrade to any of Apple’s new products?

My colleague reviews the Apple Watch Series 2 and gives you a short, as well as a long answer.

My other colleague sums up the pros and cons of upgrading to an iPhone 7 if you’re coming from an earlier iPhone.

My other, other colleague reveals five things you may not have known about the Apple Watch Edition with white ceramic case. The one thing I do know is that I can’t afford it (hur hur).

Goodnight everybody!
