Huawei Strives to Develop 5G Wireless Technologies

5G wireless networks will be emerging in the market between 2020 and 2030. Through intensive research and collaboration efforts, Huawei is helping to drive Europe towards this 5G wireless future.

5G wireless technologies are necessary to support the evolution in the ever-expanding wireless world: Over the next decade there will be a 1,000-times increase in the demand for wireless capacity; a range of exciting new business opportunities to connect billions of things wirelessly will emerge and radio access capability will ultimately allow every person to access the wireless network at a speed of 10Gbps, 100 times faster than the fastest mobile device on the market presently.

Researchers at Huawei’s 2012 Laboratories are currently helping to explore and develop the 5G wireless technology. Also, Huawei is actively participating in and driving broader industry eco-system collaborations, such as the METIS project. In METIS, which is co-funded by the European Commission as an Integrated Project under the Seventh Framework Programme for research and development (FP7), Huawei is playing the leading role in the Radio Link Technology stream.
