HTC Tells Apple: Time to Reach A Deal

HTC Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Winston Yung, said that the company is ready to negotiate with Apple over the recent patent lawsuits

According to Bloomberg, CFO Yung stated that both parties have to sit down and talk things out. He added that both sides had discussions every now and then, although he is not informed of any formal talks with Apple since the International Trade Commission (ITC)'s rulings.

Bloomberg - “We are open to all sorts of solutions, as long as the solution and the terms are fair and reasonable,” Yung said. “On and off we’ve had discussions with Apple, even before the initial determination came out.”

It was mentioned in an earlier article that there are three possible outcomes to the patent dispute, one of which involves Apple's willingness to cross-license the technology in exchange for HTC's patented technology. This makes sense as HTC announced a $300 million deal on July 6 to acquire S3 Graphics Co, which was less than a week after ITC ruled that Apple infringed two S3's patents.

With the support of Google, it is likely that the worst case scenario of Android devices being banned in the U.S may be averted for now.
