HTC: One M9 and M9+ to be updated to Android M, more devices to be announced soon

The HTC One M9 and M9+ are confirmed to be updated to Android M.

Within hours after Google unveiled Android M, HTC has confirmed that two of its latest smartphones will be updated to the new Android version.

According to a tweet posted by Jeff Gordon, the Senior Global Online Communications Manager, the One M9 and the M9+ are confirmed to receive the Android M update while more devices will be announced in due time.

It is likely that the One family of smartphones - One (2013), One Mini, One Max, One (M8), One (E8) - will be getting the Android M update as they are under the Advantage program which was launched last year. Under the Advantage program, these devices will automatically get software updates for up to two years.

HTC's commitment to update its smartphones to the latest software versions is commendable considering the various stages a software update has to go through before reaching the end users. Android M is expected to be available in Q3 with the rumored launch of two new Nexus phones.
