Now that Android 7.0 Nougat is officially released for Nexus devices, it’s safe to assume that top-tier Android OEMs have also started to get their hands on the finalized version of the mobile OS, and are now hard at work readying updates for their own devices.

Over at HTC, we already knew since May that the first phones to get Nougat are the HTC 10, One A9, and One M9. Today, the latest word is that the unlocked HTC 10 will be the first to get Nougat in Q4. This will be followed by the unlocked One M9 and One A9, and then the carrier versions of these devices.

Maybe I’m reading into this too much, but HTC’s wording doesn’t exactly confirm if the Nougat updates for the One M9 and A9 are also coming in Q4. Even if they do, Q4 goes all the way to December 31, so owners of these phones may still be in for some waiting. Already in the same Twitter thread, we can see grouses from One A9 users, who are quick to remind HTC that it once promised that the unlocked One A9 will receive an Android update within 15 days of Nexus devices getting it.
