HP Unveils New Range of Next-Generation PCs

HP has announced the launch of new consumer products, including notebooks, tablets, detachables, and All-in-One PCs.

The HP SlateBook x2 and the HP Split x2 offer the full functionality of a notebook with a removable screen that also is a sleek tablet. By releasing the magnetic hinge, people switch between the two form factors - tablet and notebook PC. Powered by the Android and Windows 8 operating systems, respectively, these versatile two-in-one devices combine power and portability, giving people the flexibility to create, consume and share content in more places.

With an advanced magnetic hinge design and dual battery system - one battery in the base and one in the tablet - people can easily switch the 10.1-inch HP SlateBook x2 from notebook to tablet mode and back, even while traveling. Featuring Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with Google services like Now, Google Search, Gmail, YouTube, Google Drive and Google+ Hangouts for multiperson video chat, if offers access to apps and digital content through Google Play as well. Equipped with an NVIDIA Tegra 4 mobile processor, the SlateBook x2 enables people to access the TegraZone app and experience Tegra 4-optimized games. The device also includes up to 64GB of storage and DTS Sound+ Solution for accessing and enjoying photos, music and videos.

The 13-inch HP Split x2 is a versatile, two-in-one detachable PC that combines power and portability with the Windows 8 operating system and an Intel Ivy Bridge processor. An optional hard disk in the base expands storage capacity while dual batteries allow people to stay ultramobile. With a soft-touch coating that provides a comfortable hold and shows fewer fingerprints, the device also offers a 2-megapixel HP TrueVision Full HD webcam and the HP ClickPad for precise multifinger and gesture navigation.

Utilizing multitouch technology, the HP Envy Rove 20 mobile All-in-One PC can easily move from upright to completely horizontal for a tabletop entertainment experience. In addition to sharing games, families and friends can enjoy multimedia content on the 10-point touch enabled 20-inch diagonal IPS widescreen HD+ (1600 x 900) LED backlit display that enables wide viewing angles, rich colors and sharp graphics. The AIO PC comes powered by Intel Haswell processors, Intel HD graphics, and 10-point touch.

Designed for people on the go, the HP Pavilion 11 TouchSmart Notebook runs on AMD's latest quad-core Temash and features a 11.6-inch capacitive touchscreen with 10 point-finger gesture support that maximizes the Windows 8 experience, the notebook comes with a Ano silver lid finish that opens to reveal a midnight black metal interior. With up to nine hours of battery life, it includes dual speakers and a subwoofer.

Weighing 370g, the 7-inch HP Slate 7 comes packed with an ARM Dual-core Cortex-A9 1.6GHz processor, Beats Audio, integrated wireless, and HFFS (High-aperture-ratio Field Fringe Switching) which allows wide viewing angles that provide easy viewing of documents, games, photos and videos - even in outdoor lighting conditions. With a stainless steel frame, the HP Slate 7 comes in either red or silver, and includes a 3-megapixel rear camera.

Boasting a display that's approximately two inches wider (diagonally) than any other Chromebook in the present market, the 14-inch HP Pavilion 14 Chromebook is armed with an Intel Celeron processor and Intel HD graphics. Weighing just under 1.8kg, it includes a 16GB SSD and extra hardware security via the built-in TPM (Trusted Platform Module) that protects against unauthorized access to sensitive data and credentials.

As detailed in our earlier hands-on, the HP Slate 21 offers a large 21.5-inch Full HD diagonal reclining IPS touchscreen with wide-viewing angles. With integrated DTS Sound technology offering a concert-like experience, the device comes pre-installed with an HP TrueVision HD Webcam and Wireless Direct which lets users share photos, videos, and data between devices without requiring a network connection. Powered by the Tegra 4 quad-core NVIDIA processor, it offers multi-user support with the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS.
