HP Announces their First Android Tablet, the Slate 7

Just at MWC 2013, HP announced their first Android product and tablet - the Slate 7. Seeing the success of Google's affordable Nexus 7, HP finally figured out that there's money to be made there and now wants a slice of the affordable tablet pie.

As you'd expect, the Slate 7 has a 7-inch FFS+ LCD display with a resolution of 1024 x 600. And under the hood is a dual-core 1.6GHz Cortex-A9 chip with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. The Slate 7 will also have front (VGA) and rear (3 megapixel) cameras, support for wireless 802.11 b/g/n standards and Bluetooth 2.1 Much like other HP mobile products, the Slate 7 will have Beats Audio processing for extra audio punch. The Slate 7 will ship with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Prices will begin at US$169, which undercuts Google's very popular Nexus 7, which goes for US$199. Sales of the Slate 7 is expected to begin in April and the tablet will be available in a black or red soft rubber back.
