G.Skill claims fastest DDR4 memory kit at 3666MHz

DDR4 memory seems to be all about the numbers lately. Kingston’s HyperX division just set the record for the fastest 128GB DDR4 kit and G.Skill isn’t about to let it grab all the headlines. The Taiwanese company has just announced the highest frequency DDR4 memory kit clocked at a record-breaking 3666MHz.

This isn’t G.Skill’s first attempt at snatching the crown for the highest clocked DDR4 memory. Last September, it released a Ripjaws 4 DDR4 memory kit clocked at 3333MHz. It has now outdone itself with its new Ripjaws 4 16GB (4 x 4GB) kit, which uses Samsung’s 4Gb IC chips and comes in at just 1.35V.

G.Skill validated the kit on Gigabyte’s X99 SOC Champion motherboard and ran it with an Intel XMP profile at 18-18-18-38 timings. This may seem on the high side, but the high clock speeds and consequently higher bandwidth should help make up for the increased latency.

Owners of full-sized X99 boards will be able to install two of these kits on their eight DIMM slots for a total of 32GB of DDR4 memory. We don’t have any information on pricing and availability yet, but these definitely won’t come cheap.
