If you've been holding off the purchase of a GoPro, this new camera might make you finally spend the money and get one.

Dubbed the "smallest, lightest, most convenient camera yet", the GoPro Hero4 Session features a rugged and waterproof design which does not require a case up to 10m. It boasts open-air microphones for enhanced audio performance underwater with a specially designed draining system to keep them dry.

Enclosed in the 74g chassis is a non-removable 1,030mAh battery (up to 2 hours of video recording at 1080p 30fps with Wi-Fi turned off), a microSD memory card slot (supports cards up to 64GB), a micro-USB port for charging/file transfer and a dual-mic system (one on the front and the other on the back). With the dual-mic system, the Hero4 Session automatically switches between the two when one detects excessive wind or noise.

The Hero4 Session is able to capture 8-megapixel wide angle shots (by default) or 5-megapixel medium with burst mode of up to 10 photos in 1 second, and time lapse photo intervals ranging from 0.5 seconds to 60 seconds. In terms of video recording capabilities, the Hero4 Session is able to shoot 1440p videos at 30 or 25 fps, 1080p videos up to 60 fps, 720p videos up to 100fps and so forth.

GoPro will be selling the Hero4 Session in two models: Standard and Surf. Both models are priced at S$590 and are available for purchase from 12 July.
