Google to Rename Picasa and Blogger as Google Photos and Google Blog?

There's no doubt that Google+ is one of the core focus for the search giant based in Mountain View. Word has it that Google intends to retire a few key services that aren't tied to Google's name, starting with its photo-sharing service Picasa and Blogger. However, these services will be likely folded into Google+, with Picasa rebranded as Google Photos to possibly support the Google+ network. Blogger, on the other hand, will simply be renamed Google Blogs, and we are still wondering how the blog service will integrate with the social network.

Mashable - Say goodbye to the Picasa and Blogger names: Google intends to retire several non-Google name brands and rename them as Google products, Mashable has learned. The move is part of a larger effort to unify its brand for the public launch of Google+, the search giant’s social initiative.

This move isn't new, given how Google has been actively acquiring assets over the years and rebranding it under the Google family. One such example that comes to mind is Google Voice, once known as JotSpot in 2006. In the near future, we can expect more Google services tightly integrated into the Google+ network. So if you're already on Google+, perhaps it is prudent to familiarize yourself with the social network and understand what you can expect from Google+.
