According to anonymous sources who have spoken to the Wall Street Journal, Google is making plans to enter the digital distribution business. Reportedly, Google has initiated discussions with publishers such as Conde Naste, Hearst Corp and Time Warner Inc's Time Inc unit, promising that it'll take a smaller cut of the revenue than Apple's 30%.

The digital newsstand would provide a way for media companies to sell versions of their publications designed for tablet PCs and smartphones based on Google's Android operating system, according to a story in the Wall Street Journal on Sunday, citing anonymous sources.
