Google has the highest paid CEO in the US

Google CEO Sundar Pichai has just become the highest paid CEO in the US. A company SEC filing has revealed that Pichai received 273,328 shares in Alphabet, Google's parent company, on 3rd February, the equivalent of US$199 million (~S$278 million). The new award of shares takes Pichai's total stock value to approximately US$650 million (S$907 million).

Pichai isn't the richest man in Google; founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, are worth about US$34.6 billion (~S$48.3 billion) and US$33.9 billion (~S$47.3 billion) respectively.

Pichai joined Google in 2004, initially leading product management on a number of Google's client software products, including Google Chrome and Chrome OS, as well as being largely responsible for Google Drive. He also oversaw the development of Gmail and Google Maps.

Last week, Alphabet surpassed Apple as the world's most valuable company after announcing that its global revenues rose 13 percent to US$75 billion (~S$106 billion) last year.
