Graphics Cards Guide
Gigabyte Debuts Factory Overclocked GeForce GTX Titan with Custom Cooler
Factory overclocked GeForce GTX Titan graphics cards are not unheard of but what about one with a custom cooler?
As we mentioned in our review of the GeForce GTX Titan, NVIDIA does not allow its add-in board partners to customize the GeForce GTX Titan due to the complexities and requirements of the GK110 GPU. However, this has not deterred Gigabyte from trying.
Enter the GeForce GTX Titan WindForce 3X OC. To get around the restrictions placed by NVIDIA, Gigabyte will offer the card with boosted clock speeds (base clock: 928MHz, boost clock: 980MHz) right out of the factory but with the reference cooler installed. Users who want the utmost performance will then have to do a little DIY and install the bundled WindForce 3X cooler themselves.
Gigabyte told us that installation will be simple and all the required tools will be provided. Additionally, they also said that removing the reference cooler and installing their WindForce 3X cooler will not void the card’s warranty.
If you have the cash to splash and want the utmost in single GPU graphics performance, this could very well be the card for you.
