Gigabyte has announced Thunderbolt 2 certification for its GA-Z87X-UD7 TH motherboard. The board features a pair of Thunderbolt 2 ports, which can daisy chain up to twelve devices and two displays.
The Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD7 TH is the first motherboard from the company to feature a pair of Thunderbolt 2 ports. The new Intel Thunderbolt 2 controller, codenamed Falcon Ridge, enables two 20Gbps bi-direction channels, instead of using each pair of 10Gbps channels separately.
This bandwidth aggregation technology marks an improvement over the previous generation Thunderbolt. As such, this allows for data transfer across daisy-chained high performance storage devices, as well as full HD video streaming to an attached 4K display.
The GA-Z87X-UD7 TH supports the latest Intel processors in the LGA 1150 package, and features Ultra Durable 5 Plus components for durability and stability. For more information, please click here.
