Fujifilm Launches the Premium 23mm f/1.4 Lens for X-series Mirrorless Cameras

Fujifilm has launched the Fujinon XF23mm f/1.4R lens for the Fujifilm X-series of mirrorless system cameras. The focal length works out to 35mm in 35mm equivalent and means the X mirrorless system cameras will finally have a 35mm focal length to equal that of the X100S, which has a 35mm f/2 lens.

The XF23mm features a camera-to-subject distance indicator and a depth of field scale on the barrel for manual pre-focusing. It has a minimum focusing distance of 28cm, which isn't much for macro shots. The lens uses an internal focusing system for high-speed auto-focus, with metal parts used for the focus and aperture rings.

The new lens promises enhanced resolving power with high contrast, with lens distortion reduced to a minimum using optical rather than digital correction. It has a rounded seven-blade diaphragm to ensure smooth bokeh. All lens elements are treated with Fujifilm's multi-layer HT-EBC (High Transmittance Electron Beam Coating) for enhanced durability and an even spread of light.

The Fujinon XF23mm f/1.4R will be available in Singapore in October, with an SRP of S$1399.
