Fujifilm Announces Rugged XP200 and 44x Zoom Bridge S8400W FinePix Cameras
Fujifilm is extending its XP range of tough cameras with the FinePix XP200, defining new standards for all-weather digital compacts.
Capable of shooting stills and recording videos underwater up to a depth of 15m, the compact comes with a double seal over the battery chamber for added protection. It can also survive a drop from a height of 2m as well as endure the temperatures as cold as -10°C. With thoroughly sealed access ports, protecting both the lens and the sensor safeguards the camera against sand getting inside it.
Incorporating a new wireless function, the XP200 lets you transfer your photos and movies to smartphone, tablet, and PC, and back up your photos on your PC. Simply install the free Fujifilm PC AutoSave software onto your PC, select the folder you want to store them in, then link your Wi-Fi router and XP200. To connect to smartphones and tablets, users are required to download the free Fujifilm Camera Application to their iPhones, iPads, or Android devices to transfer up to 30 pictures at one time from the XP200. The app also allows you to download movies.
Users can capture high speed action with the XP200's 10fps continuous shooting mode at full resolution (max. 9 frames), or ultra-high speed continuous shooting at up to 60fps (max. 60 frames). There's also a dedicated Burst Mode Button placed on the back of the camera, allowing you to switch to this mode instantly, so you can capture fast-paced action shots.
Equipped with a 1/2.3-inch 16-megapixel CMOS sensor and a 3-inch LCD screen with anti-reflective coating, the rugged compact features an internal 5x optical FUJINON zoom lens, which marries the Intelligent Digital Zoom to double the zoom range while offering optimum image processing to counteract the degradation that has traditionally occurred when digital zooms are used.
Also announced is the launch of the FinePix S8400W long zoom bridge camera with Wi-Fi enabled.
The all-in-one bridge camera also integrates the wireless function that's present in the XP200, and features a 44x optical zoom, fast apertures of f/2.9 to f/6.5, and powerful OIS for blur reduction. With its 16-megapixel 1/2.3-inch BSI-CMOS sensor, the S8400W includes the ability for ultra-high speed shooting of up to 60fps (Max 60 frames, image size 1280 x 960) and up to 120fps (Max 60 frames, image size 640 x 480), should you need to capture any action in slow-motion.
A dedicated Movie button lets you record immediately, with the high resolution, 1080i movie capture at 60fps with stereo sound and slow-motion capture at 480fps. Images can also be taken while recording videos simultaneously. In addition, there are advanced movie-editing features including (but not limited to) "movie trimming" to cut unwanted footage from movies, and "movie join" to connect separate clips into a single movie. With a built-in EVF, the S8400W is stocked with six different artistic effects such as the new Cross Screen and Soft Focus, which creates starbursts around bright objects, and a look that's evenly soft throughout the whole image respectively.
