Fuji Xerox Offers SkyDesk PhotoNote App That Digitizes Analog Information
Fuji Xerox will be releasing the SkyDesk PhotoNote app, which is able to digitize analog information such as memos. Such analog information can be commonly found in today’s business environments in the form of printed materials, memos and whiteboards. Thus this information can more useful by digitizing it with the SkyDesk PhotoNote app, after which the information can be used on the Company’s SkyDesk Services, which is a business communication support service on public cloud targeting small and medium sized businesses (SMBs).
The app works by digitizing handwritten characters using the Company’s proprietary character-recognition technology which was announced on April 12. All users need to do is to take a photo of what they want to digitize by using a smartphone or digital camera, and then upload the photo to the cloud. The app will automatically conduct image processing and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) conversion. The images are then stored as digital information in a highly visible format with text data attached.
Since the image will not only contain the recorded time/date and tags, but also text information which is automatically attached to the original image, users can quickly find what they are looking for. The app will come in both free and paid versions. The paid version will come with extra features such as the ability to convert tabular forms printed on paper to Microsoft Excel . The paid version will also come with extra storage (whereas the free plan stores a maximum of 100 records).
