It has taken awhile but it seems now that traditional watch companies are now finally serious about smarwatches.

Following Tag Heuer's entry into the smartwatch world, another watch giant has just announced its own smartwatch.

This time it is the Texas-based Fossil Group, which, interestingly, only recently agreed to acquire Misfit for US$260 million.

Their debut smartwatch is called the Q Founder and it is powered by an unspecified Intel Atom processor.

It has a 46mm stainless steel case with a lug width of 22mm. It will also feature 4GB of internal storage and have a 400mAh battery that will enable it to last all day. Finally, it is has IP67 rated water resistance and will run Android Wear.

To spice things up, the Q Founder will have official Fossil watch faces.

In terms of functionality, it will offer the usual notification alerts and activity tracking. It doesn't have a built-in heart-rate sensor.

Prices will start at US$275 (S$386).
