FiiO goes wireless with the new FiiO X1 II

Remember the FiiO X1 from two years ago? Well, it’s just been refreshed and the new version now brings wireless features too!

The FiiO X1 II retains many of the features (and overall look) of the FiiO X1, with a touch wheel dominating the front interface. This is supposed to be upgraded from before with higher sensitivity and better reliability. At 97x55.5x12mm, the player is slightly taller compared to the original (96 x 56.7 x 14.1 mm) but is thinner and slimmer too.

The DAC is also upgraded from before, as the new X1 uses Texas Instruments PCM5242 chip for a higher signal-to-noise ratio and the ability to provide balanced line output. The power architecture and circuit design of the player have also been optimized to allow for better low frequency performance and more depth, thus giving you better performance than before.

The audio jacks now support line output so you can use the X1 II to feed your speakers.

As with before, the new X1 will support these major audio formats –APE, FLAC, ALAC, WAV, WMA, AAC, OGG, MP3, and MP2. What’s new is that it will stream audio in these formats out using Dual Mode Bluetooth V4.0.  This means that you can place it in a dock and have it streaming music out to speakers via Bluetooth and still control it using another Bluetooth remote control.

There’s also a new in-vehicle mode that syncs the player to the engine of your vehicle. In this mode, the new X1 starts up automatically with your ignition and shuts down when you shut off your engine, so you won’t have to anything more than to plug the player in.

The X1 II will be available in silver, rose gold, and black.

The new X1 has an estimated playback time of 12 hours through the headphone out and 15 hours via Bluetooth. There’s also a new deep-sleep standby mode that enables instant-on playback. In this mode, the player holds charge for up to 15 days, so you can just leave it on for faster response.

As with the first X1, the new X1 doesn’t come with any on-board memory but rather supports microSD cards in up to 256GB capacities. The FiiO X1 II is available now at all major retailers in silver, rose gold, or black at a MSRP of S$189.
