Facebook's security chief wants Adobe to kill off Flash

Alex Stamos, who was recently appointed Facebook's head of security, said in a tweet that he wants Adobe to set a date for Flash to be killed off.
The reason for this is because of the increasing vulnerability of the platform. Just last week, a zero day vulnerability was found that could allow savvy hackers to execute malicious code on a target machines. This prompted Adobe to quickly issue a patch.
And just yesterday, another serious zero day vulnerability was uncovered. Again, this vulnerability allowed hackers to execute code on target machines by exploiting the Flash platform. Adobe knows about this but has yet to issue a patch, only saying previously that a patch will be issued later this week.
Stamos is a respected member of the security community and is widely credited for improving the security stance of Yahoo, where he worked previously. He is calling for Adobe to kill off Flash and is asking for browsers to follow suit by ending support for it.
The late Steve Jobs famously fought Adobe on Flash, and even penned a long note explaining why Apple devices would not support Flash. He cited issues such as poor performance, security, reliability and also battery life. Looks like he could be right.
