Google's highly-anticipated Glass, which is essentially a wearable computer with a head-mounted display, is one of the most eagerly-anticipated piece of technology in recent times. However, while Google has often hinted that Glass would be made commercially available this year, the company's Executive Chairman, Eric Schmidt, has recently revealed in an interview to BBC Radio 4 that Glass is "probably a year-ish away".

He elaborated that over the next few months, Glass would be handed out to developers, after which feedback would be gathered and final changes be made to the product.

Additionally, he stressed that there would also be a need to develop a new form of etiquette with regards to the use of the Google Glass. For example, Glass is capable of recording 720p video and Schmidt is concerned about when it is appropriate to do so and when it isn't. He added:

Companies like Google have a very important responsibility to keep your information safe but you have a responsibility as well which is to understand what you're doing, how you're doing it, and behave appropriately and also keep everything up to date.

Clearly, while wearable technology like Google's Glass have the ability to enrich people's lives; at the same time, they also raise issues of privacy and morality.
