CES 2017 starts proper in a couple of days, but Dell has already dropped its first major announcement.

It just showed off its new convertible, which is based on the popular XPS 13 notebook and is called the XPS 13 2-in-1

The new XPS 13 2-in-1 still has Dell's excellent InfinityEdge display, which makes the XPS 13 2-in-1 one of the most compact 13-inch convertibles around.

It retains Dell's signature InfinityEdge display.

The Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 uses Intel's new Kaby Lake Core i5 and Core i7 processors, but don't be fooled by the name, these are actually Core M-class processors.

As a result, the new XPS 13 2-in-1 will be less powerful than the regular XPS 13 that uses regular Intel Core processors. On the flip side, the new XPS 2-in-1 is fan-less and is even sleeker than the regular XPS 13.

In terms of ports, the XPS 13 2-in-1 loses full-sized USB ports and the SD card reader and instead gains two USB Type-C ports (one of which supports Thunderbolt 3) and a microSD card reader.

We will have more for you when we check out Dell's booth at CES 2017, so stay tuned.
