Dell introduces the UP3218K, the world’s first 32-inch 8K monitor

The Dell UP3128K monitor in all its 8K glory.

At CES 2017, Dell unveiled its new UP3218K monitor, the world's first professional monitor with a 32-inch display that supports an eye-dropping 8K resolution.

8K resolution refers to a whopping 7680 x 4320 pixels, which means a total of 33.2 million pixels and a pixel density of 280 pixels per inch. That is four times more pixels than a 4K display and pixel density that is over 28% greater than Apple’s iMac with Retina 5K display. Needless to say, the Dell UP3218K looks super crisp and gorgeous.

Incredible detail, sharpness and color.

Like the rest of Dell’s monitors that are targeted at professionals, the new Dell UP3218K monitor has super slim bezels and is relatively slim. It also features a stand that swivels and pivots, and adjusts for height and tilt. And since it is targeted at creative professionals, it is also color calibrated at the factory and supports 100% Adobe sRGB and 98% of DCI-P3.

Inputs come in the form of two DisplayPort 1.3 ports, allowing the UP3128K to achieve a maximum refresh rate of 30Hz for now. However, the Dell UP3128K will be ready for DisplayPort 1.4. When the DisplayPort 1.4 standard is ready, it will allow the UP3128K to display 8K at 60Hz.

No word yet on local availability and pricing, but the Dell UP3218K will go on sale on March 23 in the US for an eye-watering price of US$4,999 (~S$7,253).
