In parts of the world such as America and Europe, streaming of content is the norm. Services like Spotify and Hulu have become popular models to distribute movies, music and TV shows. And in this day and age of piracy, they also allow for monetization of content.

Unfortunately if you live in Asia, the only way to access these services is through IP masking. However, that is about to change as Deezer is starting up in the region. With operations in 88 countries already, Deezer will be coming to Thailand as well as Singapore and Malaysia within the week.

The service will provide access to 18 million tracks. Deezer can be accessed by a host of devices including the iPhone, Android smartphones, Blackberries, laptops, tablets and wireless speakers. You will also be able to manage your library, avail editorial recommendations as well as share your plays on social media platforms.

According to Swiss-based International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI)’s recent report in 2011 and 2012, the growth in digital music sales in Singapore has surpassed the fall in physical music sales. It is about time content streaming providers noticed and took action upon this fact.
