China Outguns North America as World's Largest LCD TV Market

AV punters have made their predications, and their divinations are now realized in Displaybank's latest statistical numbers. According to the Korean market research firm, China has outgunned North America in terms of global LCD TV sales. As mentioned in their monthly LCD TV Supply Chain report, demand for LCD TVs in China have swelled to 39 million units in 2010, thus garnering 21% of the worldwide market share compared to North America's slice of 19%.

While LED-backlit units have enjoyed a steady growth in the Chinese market last year, it's hardly surprising that retail figures for 3D TVs remain lethargic at best. Chinese TV makers such as Konka, Changhong, Skyworth, Haier, TCL and Hisense are also responsible for 15% of global TV panel shipments last year.
