Challenger Launches the First Windows Experience Zone in Singapore

Welcome to the complete PC-buying experience at Singapore’s leading IT retailer

Singapore - Buying a PC and not sure where to start? Or are you overwhelmed with the wide range of models or stumped by technical specifications?

Step into the country’s first Windows Experience Zone (WEZ) at Challenger Funan, which will transform the way people shop for PCs. The WEZ is a unique retail zone that brings the complete PC-buying experience to every consumer, and is part of the 24-hour operations at Challenger Funan.

To help you find the perfect computer for your needs, the WEZ is helmed by a next-generation tech advisor called the Microsoft Captain. The Microsoft Captain is trained by Microsoft and participating PC vendors to provide professional and objective advice to anyone from the seasoned tech enthusiast to the casual Internet user.

The Captain is here to listen to your needs, walk you through the PC purchase process, and also show you how to maximize the use of your PC with Windows 7, Windows Live Essentials, Office 2010 and other popular software.

The WEZ will showcase a premium selection of PCs from the top PC vendors in different categories such as Work, Play and Learn. It also features a cutting-edge 100-inch multi-touch screen that will become fully operational in coming months, allowing customers to interact with software to discover more about Windows PCs and software. The WEZ will also host training workshops and other hands-on sessions in coming weeks.

As part of the WEZ launch celebrations, participating vendors Acer, HP, Lenovo and Toshiba will be offering great deals with their premium PC models to Challenger members while stocks last. For more information, please visit www.challenger.sg or visit the WEZ today.

Said Mr Loo Leong Thye, CEO of Challenger: “The past year has been an exciting time for Challenger. We’ve expanded to a total of 30 outlets in Singapore and Malaysia, we’ve gone 24 hours at our Funan Challenger megastore and we now have close to 250,000 members who trust us to be their favourite IT shopping destination.

“We want to keep improving our service, and so we looked at how we are selling PCs. In Singapore, over half the households have more than one computer. However, the wide range of PCs also means that consumers may find it challenging to find the right PC for themselves, and they might get lost in all the technical specifications.”

“Our customers deserve to have a PC that is great in performance, looks and in meeting their needs. That’s where the Windows Experience Zone comes in and we’re proud to launch this with the support of Microsoft, Acer, HP, Lenovo and Toshiba.”

Said Ms Jessica Tan, Managing Director, Microsoft Singapore: “Every year, 1.3 million PCs are sold in Singapore with Windows 7, which is the fastest selling operating system in our history. Indeed, the PC continues to be an integral part of many people’s lives.

“Now great software needs to be paired with great hardware. The new Windows Experience Zone at Challenger Funan will offer the complete PC buying experience to discerning consumers in Singapore. The Zone is not an ordinary retail zone – it’s about cementing a long term relationship with our customers in multiple ways. For example, even if you have a packed schedule, you can always drop an email to the Microsoft Captain to book an appointment.”

Said Mr Ben Tan, Regional Director SEA and Korea, Retail Sales & Marketing, Microsoft: “Retail has never been more important to Microsoft and we are thrilled with the launch of the Windows Experience Zone. Challenger’s strong growth is testimony to its passion for great customer service and we are proud to partner with them to bring a great PC purchase experience to consumers.”
