Singapore – Canon today unveiled uniFLOW 5.1, the latest version of its output management and cost control software designed to increase businesses’ productivity by automating accounting and maintenance processes, and providing improved controls and extensive reporting for better cost-tracking and device-management functionalities. Equipped with additional secured mobile printing, reporting and document capture features, uniFLOW 5.1 extends the suite of robust print security, accounting, routing and tracking functionalities that businesses can enjoy with this award winning output management solution.

Mobile Print Management

uniFLOW 5.1 directly addresses businesses’ need for greater flexibility in accessing and managing documents for print by allowing user to submit and activate print jobs to uniFLOW enabled printers while on the go, via three channels on their smartphone or tablet.

  • Mobile App
    Available on the App Store at http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/uniflow/id468037515?mt=8, the free uniFLOW mobile app for iPhone and iPad features an intuitive user interface, identical to existing interface displays on uniFLOW enabled multi-function devices, PC and Mac. Plans are in the pipeline to include mobile apps for Blackberry and Android devices as well.
  • Web Portal
    Users can manage print jobs via WiFi- or 3G-enabled devices through the uniFLOW web portal (internet gateway) while they are away from the organisation’s internal network.
  • Email
    uniFLOW 5.1 allows users to create print job from the body text of an email, attachments or by sending a link to documents held in cloud-based storage systems, such as GoogleDocs, SharePoint Online or any FTP site.

Unlike existing mobile print offerings in the market, uniFLOW 5.1’s mobile printing features provide full budget- and security-controls and network capabilities which are typically available on advanced document management systems. It also ensures consistent reporting by tracking mobile print jobs to the same user account.

Automated Document Capture Workflow

Designed to increase business productivity, uniFLOW v5.1 supports conditional automation of daily workflows by setting individual configurations for different types of document processes. The output management software offers a robust range of scanning features beyond the conventional scan-to-email function, which can be customised for multiple processes, users and departments to support a wide variety of business requirements. For example, scanning options can be pre-configured to automatically straighten, index, convert into PDF, compress and route invoices to the relevant user or department for approval and archiving.

Other document capture features include:

  • Image type & barcode recognition for classification and indexing
  • File format conversion into PDF and Microsoft Office
  • High-level compression for large documents
  • Optical Character Recognition supports conversion of images into text-based files for editing
  • Database connection allows captured document to be sent to a server, email or cloud location, including Microsoft SharePoint and Therefore
