Canon's first mirrorless system camera, the EOS M, was announced back in July and we've just received word that it will be in stores this Friday Saturday (20th October). The local retail prices have also been confirmed:

  • EOS M Kit III with EF-M 18-55mm f3.5/5.6 IS STM, EF-M 22mm f/2.0 STM & Speedlite 90EX: S$1,349 (available in all four colors: black, silver, white, red)

  • EOS M Kit with EF-M 18-55mm f3.5/5.6 IS STM: S$1,149 (available in black or red)

The Canon EOS M comes in black, silver, white, red, but which colors you can choose will depend on the kit you pick.

The EOS M comes with a 18-megapixel APS-C image sensor and Digic 5 image processor, similar to the EOS 650D DSLR camera. It offers Live View auto-focus, built-in stereo microphones and is capable of capturing 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution videos at 24, 25, and 30fps.

The Canon EOS M has a magnesium and stainless build with a 3-inch capacitive touchscreen (1,040,000 dots). The EOS M's lenses utilizes the STM (stepping motor) technology, and introduce the EF-M new lens mount. The camera has the ability to use the full line of Canon EF and EF-S lenses through the optional Mount Adapter EF-EOS M (which is bundled in Kit II).

Here's a quick hands-on video of the EOS M made during at its announcement event.
