Bowers & Wilkins introduces a new flagship headphone – the luxurious P9 Signature
Audio great Bowers & Wilkins are turning 50 this year, and to celebrate they’ve released their largest over-ear headphones ever – the P9 Signature.
The latest flagship headphone is of course, suitably adorned with only the finest materials. The headband and ear cups are covered with Saffino leather that have been given a distinctive cross-hatch finish thanks to the use of a “stamping” technique. Even the provided carrying case speaks luxury, as they’re made of Alcantara and 100% made in Italy.
In terms of audio technologies, the new P9 Signature has been given a new advanced drive unit that has a suspension system for its 40mm piston drivers. This allows them to provide precision throughout the frequency range of 2Hz to 30kHz.
Sophisticated acoustic cabinets made of composites and aluminum create an optimized acoustic environment for the piston drivers to work in, while pains have been taken to place the drivers at just the right angle so that the music coming to your ears sounds more natural. Stereo sounds will seem like they’re coming to the front of you rather than the side.
Even the headbands holding the headphones together have been looked into, with each headband decoupling its respective ear cup. This stops unwanted vibration from transferring into the ear cup, allowing for optimal removal of distortion. They also incorporated a hinged, folding design so you can easily pack them away for transport.
One reason for the increased size of the headphones is also the large, plush memory foam cushions have been used in each ear pad to isolate your ears from external distractions. These will mold themselves to the shape of your ears with time, forming a personal acoustic seal and making for hours of listening comfort.
The P9 Signature will retail at S$1,280 and is available now at all leading Bowers & Wilkins retailers.
