It's finally happening - BlackBerry will be partnering with Google to bring a secure, enterprise version of Android.

According to BlackBerry, Android Lollipop and its BES 12 service work better together through a unified administration console for managing all endpoints, end-to-end security on Android devices where industry-leading encryption is used to protect business data, and compatibility with Google Play for Work.

This partnership is a boost for both companies. Android OS may be the key to help BlackBerry stay afloat in the smartphone industry as it suffers from dwindling market share and lower revenues. Google can get a stronger foothold in the enterprise sector with BlackBerry's expertise.

More importantly, it is a hint that a BlackBerry device running on Android OS is coming. BlackBerry CEO John Chen revealed last month that he does not rule out the possibility of building one if he managed to make the platform secure. Just a week ago, @evleaks posted an image of what he claims to be an "Android-powered BlackBerry Venice slider".
