BBM Now Available for Download on Android and iPhone
One month after its failed attempt to make its instant messenger BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) cross-platform, BlackBerry finally made BBM available for download on Android and iPhone.
According to an official blog post, BlackBerry states that users of Android and iPhone will be able to see the app in the respective app stores in the next few hours. At time of publication, the app is already available for download for Android and iPhone users.
As there is an "unprecedented pent up demand" for BBM, BlackBerry is implementing a simple line-up system to ensure a smooth roll out. You need to visit BBM.com (app links are included at the end of this article for your convenience) on the mobile browser of your Android or iPhone to download BBM.
Once you have successfully downloaded and installed BBM, open the app and enter your email address to secure a spot in the queue. As soon as you reach your turn, BlackBerry will email you to start using BBM. As we are among the six million interested users who have signed up at BBM.com, we had the privilege to start using BBM immediately without waiting in line.
BBM requires Android devices running 4.0 and above, and is supported on iOS devices (iPhone, iPad 2 cellular models and above, iPad mini cellular model) running iOS 6 and above.
