For anyone that has had to deal with the annoyance of file transferring services or resorted to cutting an attachment into multiple emails in order to send it, there will soon be a new alternative. Yesterday, Google announced on its blog that it will be integrating its cloud-based Google Drive service into Gmail, allowing for the attachment of files of up to 10GB in size, 400 times larger than the previous limit of 25MB.

Gmail also uses a smart assistant to double-check that everyone you're sending the file to has access to it. Whenever you send a file from Drive that isn’t shared with everyone on the 'To' list, you’ll be given the option to change the file’s sharing settings right from your email. This also works with Drive links pasted directly into emails.

The Drive attachment option should be available within the next few days, although, do note that it will only be available for those using Gmail's 'new compose' layout.
