Just about a month ago, Facebook and HTC jointly announced the HTC First, the first Android device to be preloaded with Facebook's own user interface, Facebook Home. The phone itself had decent specifications and had a launch price of US$99 and was exclusive to carrier AT&T.
However, word on the street is that AT&T is now ready to ditch the HTC First amidst lackluster response and sales from users and customers. According to sources, AT&T have sold just 15,000 units in the first month. Facebook Home downloads have not been hot either, taking a full month to reach 1 million downloads. Additionally, more than half of the 16,000 plus reviews on Google Play gave it just a one-star review.
Last Thursday, AT&T even dropped prices of the HTC First to a mere 99¢, but apparently, even such a drastic price cut have not helped sales.
