ASUS has offered a peek at its yet-to-be-released ROG GR6 gaming console-inspired PC, with a series of images which show the new PC looking every bit like its older brother, the ROG GR8. It retains the same sleek and compact 2.5L form factor that could easily squeeze onto a cluttered desk or fit into a small living room or bedroom.

But appearances are only skin-deep. The new ROG GR6 packs updated internals under the hood, with an Intel 5th-generation CPU and Maxwell-based NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M graphics card. The GeForce GTX 960M shares a lot in common with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti that was used in the ROG GR8, with both cards based on the GM107 GPU and sporting 640 CUDA cores, which makes it difficult to say whether the GeForce GTX 960M represents much of an upgrade in graphics performance at all.

The ROG GR6 will also come with new combinations of keyboard and mouse, including the recently-announced ASUS ROG Sica ambidextrous gaming mouse and RA01 keyboard.

In addition, the ROG GR6 will feature integrated 802.11ac dual-band wireless capabilities with GameFirst III network prioritization and other gaming-oriented features like SupremeFX audio design, support for NVIDIA Game Stream and a built-in Miracast receiver for screen-mirroring.

It  also comes with features targeted at user convenience, such as dual 2.5-inch drive support and upgradeable RAM via an easily-accessed side panel and a fast-charging USB port on the front to allow you to recharge your mobile devices more quickly. In the way of other connectors, the GR6 boasts single HDMI and DisplayPort connectors at the rear, 4 USB 3.0 ports, 3 audio jacks, 1 S/PDIF optical out and an RJ45 LAN port. Furthermore, users who intend to take the GR6 to LAN parties will  be glad to know that there's Kensington Lock support at the back, which will help them to better secure their rigs outside of their homes.

The ROG GR6 will ship with Windows 8.1 and support SteamOS without the need to install any additional hardware. There’s no word yet on availability or pricing, but we’ll be sure to update this space when we know more.
